The Santuário do Sameiro (Sanctuary of Sameiro) is located at the summit of the mountain of Bom Jesus, in the town of Braga, Portugal.
Its construction began in 1863 and it was founded by Father António Pereria Martinho da Silva who was a native of Semelhe. In 1871, he ordered to place the image of Nossa Senhora da Conceição in the sanctuary.
This is one of the greatest centers of Marian devotion in all of Portugal after of Fatima Sanctuary and the Sanctuary da Mãe Soberana.
Its impressive altar is made of polished black granite. Opposite it, you can find a majestic staircase which has two pillars topped by a statue of the Virgin Mary and the Sacred Coração de Jesus.
