The Capela de Nossa Senhora do Socorro Shrine is small but surprising. Built in 1559 it is located in the beautiful city of Vila do Conde, in the district of Porto.
This chapel with circular and elliptical floorplans features a nitid vault resembling a mosque.
Its interior is covered in 18th century tiles that portray images of the life of the Virgin Mary; features a rococó style reredos, with images of Nossa Senhora in which she holds Child Jesus and an anchor. This virgin is specially worshipped by the fishermen from the mouth of the Ave river.
