The Museu de Construção Naval (Shipbuilding Museum) is located in the old customs building in the banks of the Ave river, in Vila do Conde, Porto.
In this museum you will learn about the importance that shipbuilding has had through exhibitions about the craft and handmade miniatures of the ‘nau’ (a kind of caravel with bloated hull, mainly used for cargo).
Furthermore, docked in front of the museum you will see an interesting replica of a 16th century ‘nau’, which is possible to board and walk over the deck, seeing the cabins, giving you an idea of how sea life was back then.
