Idanha-a-Velha Castle, known as Torre dos Templários (Knights Templar Castle) is the only remain from the Templar period of this historic hamlet of Castelo Branco.
The castle, featuring gigantic stone work, sits atop of what is believed to have once been the pedestal of a Roman temple.
