O Museu Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, fundado em 1947 por Albano Sardoeira, está alojado em um dos claustros do Mosteiro de São Gonçalo, na cidade de Amarante, no norte de Portugal.
The Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso museum, founded in 1947 by Albano Sardoeira, is located in one of the cloisters of the São Gonçalo Monastery, in Amarante, northern Portugal.
This museum features an eclectic collection of modern and contemporary art that is a pleasant surprise if we compare it to the size of the town.
The name of the museum refers to a predilect son of the town of Amarante, Souza-Cardoso, one of the most famous 20th-century artists in Portugal. This museum exhibits several of its sketches, portraits, vignettes, and abstract paintings, although it also features important pieces by other local artists such as O Grande Desvario by Acácio Lino, featuring the burial of Pedro I.
