The Casa Museu de Monção (House Museum) is a beautiful building dating from the second half of the 18th century, which belonged to an educated rich family concerned about collecting interesting objecst.
Among the most valuable objects stand out a Sino-Portuguese loom, dating from the 17th century, of blue silk with a two-headed golden eagle; an Otoman praying tapestry from the 18th century of red silk; a Chinese compound of the East India Company room the 18th century as well, and various English and Dutch paintings. Furthermore, the house also exhibits a collection of more than 500 carafes with wine from Porto dating as far back as 1926.
The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden, from which stands out a “Nova Art” style fountain.

From Monday to Friday from 9h00 to 13h00 and from 14h00 to 18h00. On Saturdays visits are only allowed with previous booking from 14h00 to 18h00.
