At the Marinha da Troncalhada museum you might find, still in activity, one of the most ancient saltworks on this region, that still uses the same exploitation methods.
The Marinha da Troncalhada Ecomuseum has the main goals of promoting the natural and cultural heritage of this region and from this activity.
One of the main goals of producing salt, at this ecomuseum, is apart from being a pedagogical element, allowing the survival of this ancient art, that exists since 959, in a sustainable way.
To visit this ecomuseum you should previously book through the e-mail
museudacidade@cm-aveiro.pt
You might even complement your visit to the Troncalhada Museum with a boat trip on the river, a “ovos moles” tasting and even a visit to the pedagogical farm/horse riding school. Contact the Aveiro City Museum for more information.
