With an area of nearly 960 hectare this natural reserve is characterized by constituting an immense dunar area and an important local ecosystem.
This reserve is an action of dunes preservation and biodiversity from the progress of the sea towards them. The São Jacinto Dunes Natural Reserve is mostly dedicated to preserve and protect the marine birds which use this area to nest, hunt and stay during the winter.
The most common species on this reserve are the egret, the tit, ducks, seagulls and many others.
On this reserve there are many activities you might do as pedestrian trails “Discovering the Nature Trail” available everyday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You should previously schedule your will to do this trail through the contact (+351) 234 331 282.
