In Ericeira, near Mafra, you might find the International Surf Reserve, the first european surf reserve and the second worldwide, where you’ll find the best conditions to practice this aquatic sport.
The main goals of this reserve are to protect its natural resorts, reinforce the international knowledge of this heritage and, in order to do so, many activities are developed and numerous infrastructures built to attract and support surfers from all over the world.
In Mafra, if you’re not very experient practicing surf, you might visit many surfing schools where you can assist classes or practices with some of the biggest national athletes.
The most recognized beaches for the practice of surf are the Ribeira d’Ilhas Beach, Coxos Beach, Pedra Branc, Reef, Empa Beach, Crazy Left and S. Lourenço.
