The Afonso Lopes Vieira House Museum belonged to the family of the famous Portuguese poet Afonso Lopes Vieira.
Afonso Lopes Vieira (1878 - 1946) was a distinguished Portuguese poet who was born in the nearby town of Leiria. He studied in Lisboa and was trained in Coímbra, being in touch with the most relevant intellectual circles of the time. His name is related to works like O Poeta Saudade, O Enoberto, Onde a Terra se Acaba and O Mar Comença.
When you visit this museum, you will be able to admire the writer’s house, as well as the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Chapel, commanded to be built by the poet for his wife in 1929. Its odd decoration has maritime motifs.
