This museum is located in the convent of Santo António dos Capuchos, in the city of Guimarães, in the North of Portugal.
It was founded by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Guimarães, in 2008, with the purpose of preserving and valuing the cultural and artistic heritage of the city.
Its history tells us that it was built on a sacred hill in the seventeenth century, acquired by Casa da Misericórdia in 1842 with the goal of becoming a hospital.
During your visit to the Museum you’ll be able to walk through the courtyards, corridors and cloisters of this interesting monument. You can still visit its superb 18th century Church.
