Ponta Delgada is a small lost lown in the Southern end of Flores Island, which curiously has the same name than the capital of San Miguel Island.
It is a small town that has taken advantage of the plain in the area to built the houses and establish its arable lands. Stands out the 18th century Igreja de São Pedro Church, and a 1819 cult, from which you can go down to a beautiful natural pier.
Only 3 kilometres away is located the Ponta do Albarnaz and a sort of reef, which lighthouse is worth to visit. From the cape you will see the Northwestern coast featuring cliffs, the wildest of the island, with the Ilhéu da Gade Islander and the Ponta dos Fanais Peak and the Ilhéu de Monchique Islander (the most occidental point in Europe) far away.
This area has three small bays, as well as the Ponta Ruiva one, surrounded by islands that served as hideout for commanders such as Francis Drake, Walter Railley or Richard Greenville.
