Covilhã was once one of the largest producers of wool in Europe. This museum is in a former textile factory located at the municipality, in Serra da Estrela, Portugal.
The Museu de Lanifícios (Wool Museum) was founded in 1764 by Marquês de Pombal.
This museum includes the area of the Royal Textile Factory (18th century), area “Ramolas of the Sun” (19th century), and the area of the Royal Factory Veiga (20th century), where it is located on the Wool Interpretation Center.
