The Berlengas’ Islands archipelago is formed by three peculiar islands called Berlenga, Estelas and Farilhões, being the largest and most emblematic the Berlenga Island.
On these islands you might find unique manifestations of animal and plant species as well as unique beauty and landscape.

The only way to get to these islands is by boat from the Peniche Port, where there are regular circuits to Berlenga.
From the Roman Period, Berlenga Island has been inhabited, even in a modest way. On this island you might find some important heritage elements such as the Duque de Bragança Lighthouse, powered by solar energy, the S. João Batista Fortress where you might stay in an interesting way.
The most relevant forms which allowed the classification of this area as Natural Reserve where the bocage lizard and other lizard species, threatened, as well as the airo, the shearwater, the maritime crow and the famous seagulls which fill and threaten the whole island.
Regarding its flora where you’ll see maritime lobularia, poppies, marigolds and several others.
The Berlenga island is even endowed with a small camping site, two restaurants and a mini-market. There is electricity produced on the island by an active generator only available during some periods of the day.
