Castelo Branco hosts, next to the sea, the airport of Faial Island.
The coast aea of the island is defined by Ponta de Castelo Branco, a neck of land with an attractive promontory of volcanic origin formed by lava.
Nowadays, it is part of the Red Natura 2000 network due to its geological and natural interest, since there nestle many important colonies of birds.
The town surrounds the port and the natural pools, and is marked by the charming hydrangeas and the pastures.
