The Igreja Santa María de Almacave Church is a humble religious building located on the top of the city of Lamego, north of Portugal.
This modest romanesque temple dates back to the 12th century and has been declared National Monument.
Here took place an important historic event between 1142 and 1144, after the independence from Spain: the King of Portugal gathered the first General Assembly, with the clergy and nobility of Portugal.
Inside, there are several sculpted golden reredos, panes of tiles, and a pulpit dating back to the 17th century.
