Mosteiro de Salzedas (Salzedas Monastery) is one of the Cistercian monasteries in Portugal. It’s located three kilometers from the valley of Barosa, in the north of Portugal.
This is one of the most glorious monasteries in the region. It was established in 1168 and restored in the 18th century.
Currently, this great church is certainly a little run-down. The roofless cloisters attached to the church and the fake chandeliers create an unexpected spectacle.
In front of the church, you will find the Jewish quarter, composed of narrow and pintoresque streets running between the buildings and houses.
There are daily buses from Lamego (except on weekends).
