The Chapel of Santo António is located in the lower part of Alcoutim village, next to the Guadiana river, in el Algarve.
The date of its foundation is unknown, but it’s common knowledge among the inhabitants that between the seventeenth and nineteenth it was a church. Furthermore, it’s believed that the chapel belonged to Alcoutim’s Counts in the past. So, as an anecdote, the title of Alcoutim’s Count was accepted the 13th of June, Santo António’s Day.
