Alvor is a quiet locality, settled 4 kilometres west of Portimão; it has its own little sea inlet.
The Mother Church stands out, with its marvellous Manueline hallway, one of the most gorgeous of Algarve.
This town maintains its seaworthy personality, which is visible in its narrow streets, its white houses and the hermitages of São João and São Pedro, with an Arabic influence.
If you depart from here to Lagos, before you arrive to Mexilhoeira Grande, you will find a drift towards to the Roman Village of Abicada. There you can see rooms and mosaics from the I to IV centuries.
