Located in the Ermida de São Sebastião shrine, the Museu de Arte Sacra (Religious Art museum) of Albufeira was originally built in the 16th century, receiving an important architectonic upheaval during the first half of the 18th century. Nowadays, it still preserves a charming “Manuelina” door (Manueline typical Portuguese style).
This museum collects a rich pillaging of objects from different churches in Albufeira. Among the exhibited works, it’s worth noting the polychromatic reredos from the second half of the 18th century compounded by the images of three saints: São Sebastião, São Francisco Xavier and São Domingos; as well as six anonymous wooden images and a stone sculpture believed to date back to the 16th century.
