The São Jorge Museum is located next to the little port of the city of Calheta, the second most important city in São Jorge island,Azores.
This museum is dedicated to the Azores musician and composer Francisco de Lacerda, and was an initiative of the neighbours of Calheta and Ribeira Seca to create an ethnographic collection, which nowadays is focused on a sample where music is protagonist.
The first floor honours Francisco de Lacerda, composer and director of numerous orchestras in France and Switzerland, born in Ribeira Seca. On it, the instruments are hanged from the ceiling in an original composition which also exhibits band costumes, pianos, and old record players.
