Chalet of the Countess of Edla, is located in the Western area of ??Pena Park, in Sintra, after a fire, in 1999, the Chalet was subject to a long process of restoration.
The Chalet was built by King D. Fernando II and the second wife Elise Hensler, Countess of E'dla, between 1864 and 1869 have been inspired by alpine chalets.
The building is characterized by its scenic loading and horizontal lines on the outside. Its cork covering element is also used to add beauty to the building and climbing plants were placed to increase its natural fit with the environment.
Once from the balcony of the house you can see the seaview overthe rocks, the walls of the imposing Moorish Castle, and also the backdrop of the Pena Palace.
The garden surrounding the house was also restored, displaying collections of razidas exotic plants from all over the world, including tree ferns in Australia and New Zealand, as well as sights overlooking the palace, the village and the Moorish Castle.
