Sintra’s National Palace, also known as Village Palace, is one of the most important and visited monuments.
The awkward beauty of this palace is due to the fact that it wasn’t constructed at once yet over several phases mixing different styles and techniques.
Several nobles and kings lived on this palace as D. Afonso V who bornt and died there.
In its interior you’ll find several rooms decorated with items that tell the history of Portugal and Sintra. Here you might see furniture, tiles and several epic equipment which will show you how the royal family lived throughout the centuries.
The two chimneys with more than 30 meters tall, are one of the symbols of Sintra and are connected to the wide kitchen where the large feasts were cooked. These chimneys are unique in Europe.
The Palace is also known for having the biggest tiled panel in Portugal.
