The Pena Park started to be constructed in 1839 and it holds several native species and many others from distant places as Asia, Oceania, North America and others.
Apart from the beautiful species which dominate this park you might find trails, lakes, fountains and other buildings.
This park, even though it’s a natural park, was idealized by the king D. Fernando II with the same attention given to the palace. To construct this park, D. Fernando II imagines an opera scenery and several landscape from far away countries, creating, at this park, different contrasts by connecting lakes, creating waterfalls and using species from all over the world as cryptomerias from Japan, fetus from New Zealand, cedar from Libano, araucarias from Brasil, in a total of 2000 species.
