Discover the walls of one of the first castles conquered by D. Afonso Henriques, the first portuguese king, and observe the beautiful view from the top of the rocky mountain of Sintra.
The Moorish Castle was conquered in 1154 by the Christians to the Muslims and, for the first inhabitants, an interior chappell was built.
This castle has 450 metres of fortress, strategically positioned and five towers, being one of them some high that you would have to climb 500 steps to reach the top.
Visiting the Moorish Castle on your trip to Sintra is a must-do if you’re looking to observe the marvellous sight over this region.
