The Igreja da Misericórdia of Serpa was rebuilt during the 18th century on top of the ruins of an older temple. This causes it to exhibit features from many architectonic styles such as Gothic, Manueline, Mannerist, Baroque, and Neoclassical.

The interior is worth noting for its richness, especially in the Baroque tile panels from the 17th and 18th century, illustrating charity deeds.
