Evoramonte is a little fortified village which takes up a visible site on the top of a hill in Alentejo, 13 kilometres Southwest from Estremoz, in the Alto Alentejo, Portugal.
Its “velha” or Medieval centre is settled in a mound and was walled by Dom Dinis in the year 1306. Its turrets (16th c.) reinforce the Portas do Sol, Freixo, São Sebastião y São Brás.
On its highest point stands the nice 16th century castle, with an Italian taste and a beautiful keep. In this centre is also found the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição (16th c.). From the same century is the “Templete da Misericórdia,” a small temple, decorated with old tiles of the Old Testament.
From the lower suburbs stands out the Igreja de São Pedro Church (15th c.), with Gothic style.
