The Castle of Nudar has a strategic location in the heart of Nature Park of Noudar, just 8 kilometres far from Barrancos, in Alentejo, Portugal, next to the border with Spain.
This castle was built in 1308 at the request of D. Frei Afonso, of the Order of Avis.
Inside its walls it is possible to see the tank, some ruined houses, the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Desterro Church (17th century) and the "canhas". The "canhas" are underground passages from the castle to the Ribeira de Múrtega Bank and the Ardila River.
The castle is composed of an hexagonal wall.
This castle was declared National Monument in 1910.
