The Igreja de Jesus Church was built in 1491 by Diogo de Boitaca (better known for its work in the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos Monastery).
This Church is considered one of the architectural wonders of Setúbal city. It is adorned with gargoyles and twisted turrets and constitutes one of the first examples of Manueline style.
Its interior is spectacular, it features twisted rope-shaped columns, made of beige Arrábida marble with pink shades and organic look.
Behind the altar there are 18th century tiles with geometric motifs that create an interesting contrast with the curved ribs situated on the ceiling.
Praça Miguel Bombarda, Setúbal.
