The Grutas do Escoural (Escoural Grottoes) are located in Santiago de Escoural, around 12 kilometres to the south of Montemor-o-Novo, in the region of Alentejo, Portugal.
These grottoes were inhabited during the Paleolithic and were turned into sanctuary and cemetery during the Copper Age. They are so important because they have Paleolithic cave paintings remains
Next to them is a Neolithic open-air rock sanctuary and a Copper Age fortified village.
