This is the Mother Church of the old municipality of Pederneira, in Nazaré. It is a large temple built at the end of the 16th century with a single dome-covered nave.
Its main chapel has a golden carving altar and beautiful fabrics with allusions to Saint Anthony, both dating back to the 17th century. The walls of the nave and the main chapel are sheathed by an ashlar of green, blue, green and yellow “Padrão” tiles, rounded off by tapestry tiles, all dating from the 17th century.
The main chapel houses several ceramic paintings with the Bulhões cross, where it is possible to read: “The devotees of Saint Anthony will order to build this chapel. Year 1637”
