It is a beach with a large stretch of sand surrounded by black hills because of the existence of loam. It is located in the village of Pedra D’Ouro, in Alcobaça, Portugal.
On the north hill, there is an abandoned mill, and on the horizon, you can see São Pedro de Moel with its emblematic lighthouse.
The beach counts with several accesses, but the safer one is through a parallel road to the coast that finishes in the south part of the beach. There you will find a small parking area and a bar.
This beach is very busy with tourists and sports fishing lovers.
It is widely believed that the name of the beach is related to the presence of the fossils of ammonites and pyrite (Pyrite is golden coloured).
