The Capela do Senhor da Pedra Shrine is located in a small sea-battered promontory, in Praia de Miramar Beach, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
It has an hexagonal floor and it’s believed to date back to the 17th century, although some evidence estimate that it dates as far back as the 18th century.
Inside, the shrine features three polychromed and gilded reredos of Rococó influence as well as a wooden pulpit. It’s worth noting the image of Senhor da Pedra, a crucified Christ.
Devotion to the Senhor da Pedra takes place in the Romería do Domingo da Santíssima Trinidade, considered one of the biggest and most charismatic pilgrimages in the area. Many people visit the shrine year-round.
The beach and coastal walk of Senhor da Pedra are some extra motivations to visit this beautiful place.
