The Angra do Heroísmo Museum is located in the rooms of the 18th century São Francisco Convent, in Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira Island, Azores.
This museum was founded in the 40s, and it is closely linked to the foundation of the Terceira Island Historic Institute.
It has an interesting permanent collection named “Of sea and land: a Story in the Atlantic”, which occupies four sections where discovering the archipelago, the protagonism of Angra in Azores, the period of the General Captaincy to the Liberalism, and the Contemporary Age.
This museum provides a complete vision of the glorious battles that took place in the island, and the military techniques used, with special attention to the role of artillery in modern war.
