Paços do Concelho Palace, or City Council, of Angra do Heroísmo is located in Praça Velha Square, in the heart of the old town of the capital city of Terceira Island, Azores.
This building dates from 1866, and its interior is decorated with busts and royal portraits, among which stands out the D. Henrique bust, sculpted in bronze by Numídico Bessone in 1960 and accompanying the first constitutional flag raised in the country.
On the upper roof of the Câmara are located two interesting rooms: the Sala das Sessões Room, with Jaracanda furniture made in the Escola de Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva of Lisbon in the mid-20th century and where three shields used by the town along the time are exhibited; and the Salão Nobre Room or Noble Room, dating from 1901 and tastefully decorated, from which stand out the enamelled ceiling with the insignia of the region, its friezes and other ornaments dating from 1957.
