The Cabanas Island arises on the east side of the Tavira Island, in Algarve. It is a large and narrow sand strip located in front of the town of Cabanas, whose origin dates back to tuna fishing season.
From the seaside promenade of Cabanas you will observe the artisanal fishing vessels anchored on the estuary, and the fishing gear houses.
The river branch separating the island from the continent is small, so it’s possible to cross it by swimming during low-tide. Despite this, it is recommendable to go by boat.
In the sandy area of this beach you will enjoy of relaxing walks.
On the way back to Cabanas village you will have the chance to taste delicious fresh fish and seafood plates in any of the restaurants located in the seaside promenade.
