The Jardim José do Canto Garden is a botanic garden located in the city of Ponta Delgada, in the Azorian island of São Miguel, Portugal.
The history of this botanic park begins with José do Canto, one of the richest men in São Miguel Island, who ordered to plant the garden in this lands that belonged to his wife.
The garden counts with 3,000 different exotic plant species, planted since 1840, in a quiet jungle environment.
By the end of the garden raises the Santana Palace, dating from the 17th century and has a Neoclassic style, currently turned into tourist residence. This palace belonged to the American who began to plant the park, a businessman who promoted the pineapple and tea cultivation in São Miguel.
In one of the park’s sides is located an eighteenth-century solar, beside the entrance is set up the Ermita de Santa Ana Hermitage, from the 17th century, located beside the house of the president of the Regional Government.
