Ermita de Nossa Senhora de Monserrate (Ordem Terceira) Shrine, Óbidos

Visit the lovely Shrine of Nossa Senhora de Monserrate in the old district of the town of Óbidos, Portugal

The Eremitério de Nossa Senhora de Monserrate shrine is a small temple with a baroque entrance where Franciscan arms are shown, located in the suburb of Óbidos, Portugal.

This temple features a single nave and a vault covering the presbytery. Its interior is covered in blue tile of the first half of the XVII century. The inferior halves of the lateral walls are ornamented with blue and white tile, and the superior part with a beautiful composition of blue and yellow ones. 

The tile covering the triumphal arch and the presbytery are polychromos in design. 

The interior features a valuable reredos by Belchior de Matos (c. 1600) showing San Juan en Patmos and other saints related to the Franciscan order.
