Óbidos offers several hiking and biking trails you shouldn’t miss if you like outdoors sports.
It is a nature trail made of clay characterized by its proximity to Óbidos’ river and lagoon. This trail links Óbidos with the Praia do Bom Sucesso beach.
The trail begins next to the train station of Óbidos and follows the left bank of river Arnóia to the town of Arelho, where you find the Óbidos lagoon, of which you follow the south margin. It’s a perfect match with the setting.
The trail can be covered both hiking and biking.

This trail covers an area of great beauty and allows you to discover some of the less known and rich aspects of the Óbidos Lagoon landscape.
The most attractive landmarks in this trail are in the area of Foz do Arnóia and the mouth of the rivers into the lagoon, where thousands of birds and some birds of prey live year round.
This area is utterly attractive for hiking since it offers impressing landscape with the nature, vegetation and fauna typical to a coastal lagoon.
This trail extends along the banks of river Arnóia and links Óbidos with the Roman village of Eburobrittium.
This trail allows you to see the farming grounds of Várázeas do Pau and da Cegonha where cereal and fruits is preeminent. The river features characteristic flora and fauna.
In this trail you will find the “Mãe de Água Quente”, a complex of three natural springs of sulphuric waters with medicinal properties. Finally, the last parts sees the roman village of Eburobrittium, the ruins of a city established in the area in from the I to the V century.
