The Mother Church of Santiago do Cacém or Igreja Matriz is located next to the spectacular entryway to the medieval castle, in Santiago do Cacém, Portugal.
It is a Gothic temple with Romanesque influences built between the 13th and 14th centuries; and rebuilt in the 18th, by the Espadarios Knights.
The interior houses a relief of the Apostle Santiago fighting the Moors, an allegory about the taking of the castle by the Christian forces. The front façade shows the more peaceful side of the Apostle with his symbols of pilgrim: hat, pumpkin, and staff.
Rua do Castelo, Santiago do Cacém.
