The Museu Municipal de Santiago do Cacém (Santiago do Cacém City Museum) was inaugurated in 1930 thanks to the contribution of Dr. João da Cruz e Silva, who gathered for decades an interesting collection of archaeology and numismatics. The museum is located in the building that once was prison for the whole area and stands out as an example of the civil architecture of the 19th century.
