The Ermida de Nossa Senhora dos Anjos is located at the entrance ofAnjos, in the parish of São Pedro of Santa María Island, Azores, Portugal.
This 19th century modest shrine is full of history, as next to it is located the arch of the primitive chapel where Cristóvão Colombo (Christopher Columbus) prayed after dropping anchor in the Cré Bay, in 1493, on its way back from the discovery of America.
The original church was built in wood and a hay roof, and it was rebuilt with stone masonry between 1460 and 1474. By the end of the 19th century it was restored and got its current image.
Nowadays is classified as a Listed Building.
The patron saint’s festivity in annually celebrated on August 21st.
