The Igreja de Santo Antão Church is located in the Largo Dr. Manuel Monteiro Velho Arruda Square in the city of Vila do Porto, capital city of Santa María Island, Azores, Portugal.
It is an interesting monastic complex founded in the 17th century, which currently hosts the headquarters of the Santa María Youth organization.
It is made of plaster and whitewashed masonry and has two rectangular bodies shaping an “L”. Also has a small tower with a quadrangular floor corresponding to the old chapel. On the left end of the facade, it can be seen a bell tower with two semicircular vanes, rounded off by a cornice.
Over the cornice there is a cross. On the tympanum it is shown a quite damaged relief in stone where it can be read: “Anno D 1693”.
