The São Francisco Convent, originally known as Nossa Senhora de la Vitória Convent, raises over the Largo da Nossa Senhora da Conceição Square, in Vila do Porto, capital city of the Santa María Island, Azores, Portugal.
The original building was destroyed by privateers in 1616, just only nine years after its foundation; but rebuilt in 1725 and enlarged in 1822. It is worth to visit the chapels attached to the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Vitória Church: the one of Orden Terceira, which shows two carved reredos and a extraordinary image of Christ; the Senhor do Sepulcro one, where you will find another carved retable, and it is covered with 17th century tiles dedicated to Santo Antonio.
This architectonic complex is classified as Listed Building since 1970. Nowadays, it houses the city council and some other public agencies.
The church worships the Santo Cristo dos Milagres, with a festivity on May 23rd.
