The Convento de São Francisco Convent in the city of Estremoz hosts a Gothic church of the 12th c. with a Rococo facade from a much later date, and three naves with five stretches and ogive arches.
On the inside of its monumental church you can have a look at a curious retable of the 16th c. with golden engravings of the tree of Jessé.
After the liberal revolution, the convent was turned into a cavalry regiment, the cloister in a weapons yard and it was added the Capela de Dom Fradique de Portugal Chapel, also known as Capela Do Senhor dos Passos, which currently has a Renaissance portal vestibule and Manueline elements on the windows and the inside.
