The Praia do Vale da Azinhaga beach is located east of Ponta do Altar, in Lagoa (Algarve) and it’s characterized by its truly natural setting.
The cliffs on the sides of the beach slowly decline towards the central part of the beach, creating an amazing valley suspended over the sea-level. Once inside the water, two rocks are erected, one smaller closer to the sand, and the bigger one a little more into the sea, is known as Roca da Gaviota and has been declared an especial area of protection due to the importance of the sea birds living there. It’s common to see colonies of cormorants and herons.
Towards the west, there is a set of cliffs worth exploring since they have a vast complex of grottos.
