The Ermida de Santa Catarina hermit was built in the 18th century, probably by the Knights Templar, to protect the travellers that surrounded the area of Monsaraz.
This historic building exhibits the symbols of the Knights Templars and the architectonic style typical to the order. The interior is a wide space with a Romanesque arch granting access to the apsis.
The building is covered in a pointer arch, with many barrel vaults. It is currently listed as National Monument and is located in the outskirts of the walls of Monsaraz.
