The Ermida de São Bento Hermit is a rural chapel with simple aesthetics located in a prominent spot in the town of Monsaraz, offering charming panoramic views.
It was built towards the end of the 16th century thanks to the help by the inhabitants of the nearby areas of the town. It is currently deteriorated and was damaged in the 1755 earthquake.
The chapel is composed of a single nave, a major chapel, and an adjacent sacristy. The interior shows several good examples of Baroque style.
