The building of this convent began in the year 1700 and it belonged to the order of Agostinhos Descalzos.
However, due to its vast size, it wasn’t finished until 1741. According to local traditions, the convent is linked to the figure of Don Nuno Álvarez Pereira, arguing that he used to pray here before his battles against Castilian forces.
Currently, after being heavily restores, the convent hosts a Rural Hotel and Archaeological Museum, which organized many exhibitions and events.
