The Igreja de São Tiago Church of Coímbra is a Romanesque building from the end of the 12th century, which hosted the pilgrims which went on the Road of Santiago.
This temple, with three naves, was consecrated in 1206, and it went under several transformations in the 16th, 18th and 19th century.
Its vestibule follows the decoration geometrical structure of the Sé Velha (Former Cathedral of Coímbra). The side shows decoration with allusive shells to the patron São Tiago.
Its inside is covered in wood and it works as house of prayer. From it stands out the major chapel’s retable, with a Rococo Coímbrao style and original from São João de Almedina; and the Gothic vestibule of the chapel.
